im looking 4ward to sit on MUET end of this year. i didnt go to muet class held by my uni. its about financial prob. i tend to learn by myself. can anybody give me the tips for this exam. wat should and shouldnt do in this exam..

according to my experience (cheewahh.... )

First of all..
Out of that four component(task) mainly the most mark you'll get is from Reading Comprehension and Writing paper(that if you're doing it well then) that because you'll get 135 mark just for Reading Comprehension and 75 mark for Writing..so in other words the best thing to do is to read a lot and I mean A LOT!
And try to make your writing not just easy to read and understood but make it more interesting to read ( anyway the "pemeriksa" ARE a human being also..if u know wat i mean! )

And for the other two is Listening and Speaking, each of this task are worth 45 point...errrr...i mean mark!
First for the listening part..well this depend on your luck exactly, well thats what i think....ok enough with what i think! Ok at this part u got to listen to the boombox(lol i like to call it that! lol) first it will you a short story or a situation and then couple of question will be thrown at your!(well in the question paper at least ).
Oh did i mention that you're not alone in that room couple of people will sit in that same room (...duhhh..) the thing is your "position", if you are near to that boombox then you are lucky and that dont go well for the other way around! unless u got an ear like a elephant! lol! or you'll be taking the task at the hall ok now that different ..

Lastly, Speaking! Hemmm......for this all i can say is u got to be creative and try not to "stall"! and try not to give the "judge" that muttering thing i.e errr...hehe...arr...ect! Talk alot but dont cut other people line!
and if u don't have anything thing to say try to ask the other candidate about your opinion! heh!

Ok, that what i think about how to bang at MUET! yet this came from a guy that lose 12 point from getting band 4!

hi, for the listening, i think u should listen more english song to improve your listening..try to catch the words from the song that you are listening..i think it would help in your muet listening..

cavern ~ im doing it now. now i only hear hitz.fm instead of hot.fm. hehehe. and my playlist now full of english song.. no more malay song.. hehehe

AriB ~ thanx alot for ur tips. i have a big problem wit my speaking. sometimes i know wat i wanna talk about, but i dont have the courage to do that. it like just terkaku. then i tend to err aaa eeee uuu aahhh ehh huhuhuhu. that is my major problem wit my communication skill.

now THIS kinda attitude you should never keep within yourself! Because it will bring u down during the speaking section and belive me it will!

ok here some tips of what you can do to over come that lack of self esteem yours, first you should keep one thing in mind the ain't no one gonna stab you with a "Rambo knife" if you're not fluent at speaking in english!

Speak english with you friends (to hell with them if they think you're showing off! Mod relek yeah, dont ban me because of this stuff! ). I always like to think that I'm the king of myself! only myself of course!!

Thirdly you can do like alot of other people have done for ages, and that is practice speaking english with yourself(alone) which is stupid if u ask me! But hay!! some people say it's actually works!(can you believe that!)...though sometimes it does make that person look like a cocoNUT...well it never hurt to try right! try give it a shot!

Oh and exercise is important to! I know..I know this sound stupid but really it help well for me at least, that because when you're exercising your body your brain will "sweat" too..if you know what i mean! Be CREATIVE thats what i think!

u know what, i always speak by myself alone while im driving. and i know i can. but when im in front of people, i start to blub, erkk aaaa... ehehehe...

hi, beside from listening english song, i think you should begin to start speak in english..it would give you courage in you speaking test..and you won't "terkaku" during on speaking test..try to use confident words such as:
1, Good idea...
2, Yes, i totally agree...
3, i couldn't agree more...
4, interesting point. I would add...
5, I'm of the same opinion...

it shows to the examiner that you are confident to your answer and perhaps you will get high mark ...

Ok try to think as if the person that are in front of you as your friends!( even though they are not! lol! ),
talk to them like you knew them before, that should make you much more comfortable to chatter with them!
Plus remember when you are in that speaking test, that 5 people that are sitting on that table ARE your friends..THE ONLY FRIENDS AT THAT TIME!!!..

Oh and by the way, I'm just helping....and one more thing about what mister cavern write

How to score MUET?ok, this might be a bit selfish, especially to your friends. i dont know the format of your muet test going to be, i assume it is similar as mine. In that group talk, try to conquer as much space and time as you can, YES too selfish, but the result will be yours.If you are too kind in giving ways and spaces for your partners to speak, you might dont have time to impress the examiners. ALWAYS help your friends when they seems stuck at some points, that will impress the examiners too....try to speak english as much as you can with your friends, you can call me for that too......hey, i am just wanna help......

for my vocab, i prepared a handbook. everytime i found a word that i couldnt understand, ill rite into the book and ill find the meaning.

i already taken MUET..and i got band3..huhu..(cukup2 makan lol)

i took my MUET on year 2003-2004...i took twice coz i'm really not satisfied with my 1st MUET result..so i took MUET for the 2nd time in year 2004...

well,i really think the easiest part to score is the listening part..make sure u listen carefully to score full mark in that section..

if your communication skill in not so good...try to score in the writting part (summary writing) n the comprehention part..(betul ke ejaan dia??)..

but still oral is important..jus make sure u understant ur task..n try to speak more then keep quite,but of coz make sure u understand what are u talking about..

If u r in pre-u program, it is better for you to take MUET class....you know, if you get band 5 or 6 in MUET, you will have a lot of advantages later in university....

1.buy a Muet book for references.(if u cant afford one,then discuss with 4 to 5 friends about current issue:no matter in what topic)


2.practice listening(the pronunciation:sometimes they say similar sounds)


3.expand your vocabulary(beneficial for your writings)


on the exam day

1.understand the topic.

2.use a simple word(refer to thesaurus for practicing)

3.speak your heart out.

4.be calm.

1.trust yourself - that's the only way out of your stutter situation or confident=zero to talk.

2.expand your social life!(especially with those who speak english more than bahasa)

3.human makes mistakes - it's very normal on the early stage if you are speaking manglish!just have guts!

4.put it in your mind that "if everyone could do it why not me?"-(it may sounds egoistic but it helps!!trust me)

but im not taking MUET class.... coz they made class on saturday n friday...

i cant stand with 7 days straight class LOL.....i need some rest for my brain..

there's no such thing like "ive tried but i still cant".put in mind that u can.and u actually can if your guts overcome your heart.keep on learning n practising.i'm saying this because once you the real world,u will get worse if you cant speak english well.people out there are not using the right grammar as well.they just speak n keep learning.remember..u can!

I dont think you will get Band 1.....I've met lots of band 1 students, they cant speak at all.moreover using correct grammar. Study more on adverbs, adjective, and things like that...

hi, im taking MUET this year too and im final year students. what i worried about is writting. it take 1 hour and half for writting and summary. 1 hour for the writting? for me it took more than 1 hour to complete the writting. and im weak in grammer too.. .my opinion is try do more exercises for those who weak in grammer esspecially me.and who played online game try communicate with others.i think it should improve your speaking. but try do more exercises on writting paper. its take a lot of mark. if u get higher in writting, i think it should be easy for others exam.

i work at one of the IPTA n handle a lot of foreign student..sometimes i have a little bit problem to communicate with them..but one thing that i always keep in mind is..CONFIDENT n LEARN FROM MISTAKE..

Like the others always advised, you've to practise alot, reading a lot, and talking a lot in english. Please try not to use 'shortformed' words when writing, although many people like to do that. That will help a little bit.

i just finished my speaking task today..damn it..easy question..but all my points are crap..i didnt talk what i've jotted..waaaa.....but really hoped i can get band 4 at least..even before this i've taken IELTS(international english language testing system) and i got band 6.5 out of 9...huhuhu..

last week was my speaking test... the two minutes time given.. not much elaboration I made. but for group discussion, much better probably... I got topic about how to upgade transportation in this country.
ps "upgrade" is not the term used in the question, I forgot the word.

just finish all MUET test today .....

i felt satisfied overall..but during in the group discussion,i've spoke lil shaky lol....

my speaking test was sucks... i cant do it well. the topic was about child crime. huhuhu my point was goverment should severe the punishment... huhuuh i was blanked. erk...

but my writing and listening was quite good. i satisfied wit my answer. hmmm hope can covered my speaking test.

luckily i opened topics name inspirasiku in putera(jati diri)... so i got many idea from tat topic... thank god...
