JVC Sales & Service (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the local sales office of JVC (Japan Victor Company) a leading developer and manufacturer of sophisticated audio and video products, is setting out to capture a larger share of the growing market for high definition (HD) and networked digital entertainment products.

The company announced its direction of ‘Opening the Doorway to High Definition (HD) and Digital Networking’ at a technology and product showcase held in conjunction with its 10th anniversary, here today.

The new product line- up included the world’s first full HD consumer hard disk drive camcorder, the JVC Everio GZ-HD7, the JVC Sophisti™ Network Media Home Theatre Systems line and the JVC D-ILA HD Home Theatre Projection System.

Market figures from the United States, Europe, Japan and selected countries in the Asia Pacific show that HD devices are registering sales growth, indicating consumers’ preference towards the newer format attributed to richer content and more interactive entertainment experience.

According to JVC Sales & Service (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Mr. Hirokazu Tamura, local consumer demand for HD and digital networking products will rise consistently in over the next five to ten years, based on global trends.

“The arrival of the next-generation DVDs and digital content from the internet has formed a healthy niche for HD products, and created a market for network home media.”

“JVC Sales & Services Malaysia is confident that with the upcoming expansion of terrestrial and satellite digital broadcasts in HD format, increasing broadband usage, coming WiMax availability and more interactive multimedia content, demand for HD and digital network products will rise steadily year on year,” Mr. Tamura said.

“For 2007 JVC is out in front with truly one-of-a-kind breakthrough products”, said Mr. Tamura.  “These include an HD Everio that for the first time brings full HD 1920 X 1080 recording to consumer camcorders.”

By the end of the 2007 financial year, JVC expects its HD hard disk drive camcorder models to contribute 15% to its overall hard disk drive camcorder market share, with the contribution of the HD models set to increase to approximately 50% in two years.

“The value of JVC’s hard disk drive camcorder market share continues to increase as our product pricing is stable and product value is high, despite the entry of new players into this segment,” Mr. Tamura explained.

In anticipation of wider spread HD adoption, JVC has future proofed its products with software solutions that can support emerging formats such as Blu Ray.

The showcase featured the JVC’s Sophisti line with the DD-8 and DD-3 models billed as completely new types of living-room entertainment, featuring a Network Media Player that serves as the nerve center of the home entertainment set-up, allowing consumers to retrieve music files, movies, digital images and other digital files stored on their computer.   The Sophisti line’s superior sound quality is achieved through JVC’s front surround technology that removed the need for rear speakers and the placement problems they often create.

“The consumer electronics market is experiencing rapid change and JVC Sales & Service Malaysia aims to take the lead.  Over the next five to ten years we want consumers to think JVC when they think HD or digital networked products.  Our commitment to the Malaysian market is strong and we have our local market consciousness in product development, pricing and innovation,” he said in closing.

The 60GB JVC Everio GZ-HD7 HD hard disk drive digital camcorder retails at RM6,999, the JVC Sophisti Home Media Network System DD-8 retails at RM5,999 while the JVC Sophisti DD-3 is priced at RM3,999.  The JVC D-LA HD1 Home Theatre Projection System retails at RM22,999. All products come with a 12 month international warranty and are available May 2007.
