HP powers AsianMedia's Lineage II

HP has been selected as the technology provider of choice by Asian Media Development Group (AsianMedia), the Philippines’ largest PC games distributor. HP will be providing AsianMedia with an online gaming infrastructure solution consisting of ProLiant and BladeSystem servers, StorageWorks data and network storage solutions, networking products, and services.

Recently, AsianMedia signed a US$5.5 million deal with South Korea-based gaming giant NCsoft Corp. to distribute the triple-A “Play-to-Play” (P2P) online game Lineage II in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore. The landmark agreement is a first for a Philippine company and sets AsianMedia ahead of its competitors to capture the lion’s share of the Southeast Asian market for online games.

“HP understands not only AsianMedia’s IT needs but also our core business. In selecting a technology partner for the launch of Lineage II, HP was the obvious choice with their superior technology solutions,” said AsianMedia President Arturo B. Diago, Jr..

AsianMedia has made substantial investments to house top-of-the-line gaming infrastructure powered by HP for Lineage II in the Philippines, which will serve as the hub for the hundreds of thousands of gamers expected within the Southeast Asian region. The company expects the burgeoning market for online games within the region to generate annual revenues of US$141 million by 2010.
