HP announced the HP ProLiant ML115 server, a new addition to its x86 server line-up that is designed to meet the growing IT and budgetary demands of small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), while optimizing their business outcomes.

Developed in Asia, the HP ProLiant ML115 is an affordable, entry-level computing solution built with the needs of SMBs in mind. Powered by Second-Generation AMD Opteron™ 1000 series processors based on DDR2 memory and dual-core technology or single-core AMD Athlon™ 64 processor 3500+, the HP ProLiant ML115 is available at the price of a desktop server. The server is ideal for networking, file-and-print, shared Internet access, small team email and LAN infrastructure.

"HP combines proven trust and design excellence of the industry-standard ProLiant server technology with the power of AMD’s Second-Generation processors for SMB customers by making it simple, reliable and affordable,” said Tony Parkinson, vice-president and general manager, Industry Standard Servers, HP Asia-Pacific. “The HP ProLiant ML115 is a true server available at a desktop price to improve networking, business efficiency and protect company email and files.”

The HP ProLiant ML115 joins a strong portfolio of ProLiant servers that customers of all sizes around the world have come to depend upon. According to IDC (1), HP maintained the No.1 position in the Asia/Pacific (inc. Japan) x86 server (2) markets in unit shipment terms for the 19th consecutive quarter since Q2 2002 capturing 25.7% market share in Q4 2006.

“Small businesses require cost-effective solutions that will reliably execute a single transaction as effectively as a hundred.  With the introduction of the new HP ProLiant ML115 server powered by AMD Opteron™ processors, AMD and HP have collaborated once again to deliver technology that will help small businesses maximize their IT budgets with the computing performance that addresses their everyday demands,” said Bryan Low, vice president, sales and marketing, South Asia, AMD.

Ease-of-use and remote management drive customer value
The HP ProLiant ML115 is packaged in an ergonomic chassis that makes typical server hardware configuration changes simple – it is easy-to-use and easy-to-configure with off-the-shelf functionality. Remote management features allow network administrators to easily check and update the server from outside the office.

The smaller chassis and desktop acoustic levels make the HP ProLiant ML115 ideal for small office environments, under desks or ‘out of the way.’ The HP ProLiant ML115 also offers:

• Four non-hot plug hard disk drive bays
• Eight total USB ports (2 front, 4 rear, and 2 internal)
• Easily accessible chassis for upgrade and expansion
• Optional HP Lights Out 100c Remote Management Card
• Optional drive key via front USB or internal USB for ease of booting

With the HP ProLiant ML115, customers have access to the expertise and guidance they need through HP and its global network of channel partners. In addition, all AMD Opteron™ processors are built with Error Correcting Code (ECC) memory that protects businesses from data loss and unplanned system downtime. Unlike standard memory, ECC memory can actually detect and correct single-bit errors.
