TM Net Sdn Bhd (TM Net) demonstrated its commitment to boost the use of Internet in the education of the Islamic faith by making a contribution of computer equipment to the Mosque Administration Division of the Melaka State Islamic Department (JAIM). In conjunction with the presentation ceremony, TM Net also took the opportunity to introduce and showcase its Islamic education and lifestyle portal, Addeen and its content - Quranic Multimedia Programme (QUMP).

Zainab Hashim, Acting Chief Executive Officer of TM Net said she believed that having an online Islamic portal like Addeen could encourage a better understanding of the Islamic faith. She said, “TM Net has always been a strong advocate of the application of the Internet in all aspects of education, and furthering online Islamic education is yet another part of our agenda in developing positive and compelling local content online. Addeen is a comprehensive Islamic education and lifestyle website, which features the wisdom of religious teachings through an interactive multimedia web portal. More than just providing religious text and information, Addeen is designed to serve as a source of practical moral and spiritual lessons applicable to enrich and improve a believer’s lifestyle.”

Zainab was speaking at a ceremony at Masjid Negeri Melaka (also known as Masjid Al Azim Fasa II), where TM Net presented a laptop computer and colour printer with scanner together with 2 CDs of the Quranic Multimedia Programme (QUMP), valued at RM8,000 to JAIM. The department is responsible for the organisation of religious education and communications in the state of Melaka, including the preparation of scripts for the 'Khutbah' or sermons that are delivered during Friday prayers and other special occasions.

Ustaz Kamadin Mohd Daim, Melaka Tengah District Religious Officer, Jabatan Agama Islam Melaka’s (JAIM) who represented the Director of JAIM at the event, thanked TM Net for its contribution and complimented them on the innovativeness and value of its Addeen website to the Islamic community. He said, “We are very impressed with TM Net for demonstrating such a high level of commitment to develop Islamic education through the Addeen website. It is most timely as the Internet can serve as an effective medium to educate both Muslims and non-believers about the virtues and values of Islam, while reaching out and instilling positive social and spiritual habits among the nation’s youth.”

Addeen is designed as a comprehensive source of online content for those interested in learning more about the Muslim faith and lifestyle. The content is made available in digital format and stored in an online knowledge archive, featuring news, articles, video and audio clips available for download onto mobile phones. The portal aims to provide healthy spiritual guidance on topics such as Self-Motivation, Spiritual Guidance, Family Guide, Students Guide, Marital Affairs, Household, Men & Women, and Islamic Understanding. It also features contributions from well-known personalities in Islamic studies including Dato’ Mohd Fadzilah Kamsah, Dato’ Md. Hasyim Yahya, Dato’ Ismail Kamus and Prof. Dr. Sidek Baba.

The portal also incorporates the Quranic Multimedia Programme (QUMP), which provides audio, video, pictures, e-books, learning aids, documentaries and translations designed to assist in learning of the Al-Qur’an, as well as Hadith teachings and the history of the Islamic religion.

Zainab said TM Net would continue to develop and promote online Islamic educational content and services. “We are proud to be acting as a driver to promote further awareness and appreciation of the Islamic faith amongst all Malaysians, whether through our online service offerings such as Addeen and QUMP or working together with the grassroot community and religious authorities such as JAIM.”
