Yahoo! reinvent Mobile Search for Malaysia

Print    Email

Yahoo! expanded the reach of its popular mobile search service, Yahoo! oneSearch beta, to consumers in Malaysia.  oneSearch reinvents search on mobile and is designed to provide people with exactly what they want on their mobile device – instant, relevant answers.  This beta version of oneSearch can now be accessed through any mobile device with a browser and Internet access.

To try Yahoo! oneSearch, open your mobile phone’s browser and type in my.m.yahoo.com. For information on Yahoo! oneSearch please visit http://malaysia.mobile.yahoo.com.

oneSearch leverages Yahoo!’s expertise in search on the desktop and mobile Internet services as well as relationships with leading content providers to deliver an innovative search experience to consumers.

“Yahoo! oneSearch provides the most locally relevant search experience for people on mobile devices in Malaysia,” said David Ko, vice president and general manager, Connected Life Asia, Yahoo!.  “Yahoo!’s mobile leadership is based on providing people with what they want on a mobile device – instant, relevant answers on the first screen of search results instead of a sea of web links,” Ko added.

At launch, consumers in Malaysia will be able to access News, News Images, Finance, Weather, Image, Flickr™, Web and mobile Web results with easy navigation to other web sites.

For example, if someone wants to look for the latest information on a country, city or company, they just need to type Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur or Proton into the search box to receive relevant results based on their search queries such as weather, Flickr photos, web images, current stock price, latest news articles, the company website and more.

Yahoo! will continue to add new types of content to the service over the coming months.

Yahoo! oneSearch has advertising built into the experience, enabling advertisers to reach consumers on their mobile devices across major mobile operators. This further extends the reach of Yahoo!’s advertising services to the mobile environment. Consumers will be able to click on an ad to go to the advertisers’ mobile Web site or a landing page to get additional information about the advertisers’ offerings, including the ability to call the advertiser.

Yahoo! oneSearch is now available in 14 countries around the world (Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, India, Italy, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, USA and Vietnam).  oneSearch first launched in the USA in March 2007.
